Child Care Backs My Biz Week
October 19–23, 2026
Child Care Keeps California Open for Business.
California is the world’s fourth-largest economy, and it functions when parents can secure child care. Behind every open business is a workforce that depends on reliable care.
California Doesn’t Work Without Child Care
Businesses count on roads, utilities, and broadband. They also count on child care. It gets a shift staffed on time and keeps a skilled employee in the job. When care is unavailable or unaffordable, parents face decisions no one should have to make, and employers absorb the consequences through turnover that ripples across industries.
The gap costs California’s economy an estimated
$17 billion a year.
Child Care Powers a Stronger Economy
California’s economy grows stronger when families can access care. It means businesses can count on a deeper talent pool and have steadier staffing.
Employers, chambers, industry associations, community organizations, and policymakers across our state all have a stake in this, because child care keeps California open for business.
From October 19 to the 23rd, A Golden State For Kids is partnering with businesses to share how child care strengthens our state.

Thank You To Our 2026 Partners
We’re grateful to the organizations that are helping make the case that accessible and affordable child care powers a thriving workforce and economy.
Biz Week 2025
In 2025, A Golden State For Kids partnered with businesses across Los Angeles County to spotlight what child care makes possible for California’s workforce and economy. Business leaders shared, in their own words, why care is a business issue.
